Service Description
A bike-specific lactate test is a performance assessment that measures how your body responds to increasing cycling intensity by analysing blood lactate levels at set stages of the test. During the test, you complete progressive workloads on the bike while small earlobe samples are taken to monitor lactate accumulation. By the end of the session, you will have: - your fat mass, - your lactate threshold (the top of Zone 2), - your lactate turn point (a physiological equivalent to FTP), and - your maximum aerobic power. You will receive a clear explanation of how each marker relates to the others, along with personalised guidance on how to train effectively to reach your goals. Using your lactate profile and measured fat mass, we can also estimate how much carbohydrate your body requires at any given cycling intensity, giving you valuable insight into pacing, fuelling, and race-day strategy. This test provides accurate training zones and a deeper understanding of your physiology, allowing you to optimise every session and unlock meaningful performance improvements.
