Swim Adventure — Dawlish Warren to Maidencombe Join us for an unforgettable 12km ultra-marathon open-water swim along one of the UK’s most iconic coastal railway lines, across a river mouth and along some of the most dramatic cliffs in the whole of the south west. 📍 Route: Dawlish Warren → Maidencombe 📅 Date: Saturday, 11th July ⏰ Start Time: 14:00 🚩 Start Location: Rocky beach at Dawlish Warren (not the main beach) W3W: ///petition.shrugging.cigar This ultra-distance swim follows the legendary coastal railway, offering stunning scenery as you glide through open water. As you split from the railway at Teignmouth, you have to navigate across the busy river mouth (alongside a safety crew). The final 4k is below towering 700ft cliffs until Maidencombe, where there is an amazing cafe: 3km: Pass Dawlish Railway Station 5km: Swim through the remarkable rock arch at Parson and Clerk 8km: Cross the Teign River mouth 12km: Arrive at Maidencombe beach W3W: ///educated.cropping.polar Safety & Support Your safety is our top priority. ✔️ Support boat on the water — for emergencies and to carry your fuel and hydration ✔️ Dedicated lifeguard for every swimmer Logistics: Please arrange your own transport from Maidencombe after the swim, as we do not provide return logistics or carry clothing. Furthermore, there is rarely a mobile signal there, so pre-planning is crucial. We will be there to greet you at the finish and share a well-earned celebratory cup of tea afterwards.
