Through The Arch
THROUGH THE ARCH is one of our longest standing swims. A classic, well loved SWIM ADVENTURE from Dawlish, alongside the famous railway line, through the arch at Parson and Clerk rocks, then straight along the see wall back to Teignmouth.
We meet you at our normal meeting point for OWS training, which is on the seawall, outside Teignmouth Lido. There is parking on the sea front but it is limited to one hour so we suggest parking at Eastcliffe car park, just up the road, one minute walk away.
We will provide a short safety briefing and route plan before getting on the boats, then we set sail to Dawlish. There will be a small amount of space on board the boats for essentials such as flip flops and warm tops and drinks which will be stowed away.
At Dawlish boat access the swim begins. Firstly heading out to the last yellow buoy. Then we follow the yellow buoys parallel to the winding coast, towards Parson and Clerk and Teignmouth.
At Parson and Clerk we swim straight through the arch, perhaps bumping into the local seal. Then continue on a heading to Teignmouth.
After arriving at the beach, all swimmers will be offered a warm drink. Often swimmers meet up after getting changed, for a coffee and bacon bap at East Cliff cafe.
